Korea and Uzbekistan expand education cooperation

Korea and Uzbekistan are expanding education cooperation across preschool provision, teacher development, Korean-language learning, global citizenship education and digital learning.

A Korea International Cooperation Agency project in Tashkent is establishing an innovative preschool centre for 270 children and a training and development centre. The US$11.9 million grant project is expected to introduce training programmes for 20,000 teachers and provide professional development for 4,000 educators.

Korean is also being taught as a second foreign language in 68 schools across Uzbekistan, involving more than 5,000 students, nearly 100 local teachers and 20 teachers from Korea.

Further areas being explored include the digitalisation of vocational education, digital laboratories, interactive learning environments and continued teacher professional development.
